Can't-Miss Car Debuts from 2019 NY Auto Show

While there were many cars at the New York Auto Show that stood out, Car and Driver compiled a list of 11 "Can't-Miss" cars that were in attendance at the 2019 New York Auto Show and the new 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS was one of them. Mercedes-Benz's GLS was already everyone's favorite large, three-row SUV, even in its old age. Well, now it's younger! The interior of the new GLS closely resembles the interior of the smaller GLE. Mercedes-Benz has added more seating options, including a pair of second-row captain's chairs, instead of the typical three-across bench set-up, along with many other new features. Mercedes-Benz AMG G63

Driving a Mercedes-Benz AMG G63 is an experience you won't soon forget. The G-wagon is a military vehicle at heart but the new 2019 redesign has modernized its look and has incorporated all the latest technology into this stunning truck. According to Automobile, "Before I even climbed behind the monster’s wheel I already knew the 2019 G-wagon—thoroughly redesigned for the first time since 1979—was a home run. That rig had impressed us all with its improved spaciousness, modernized dash, genteel character, and rip-snorting, twin-turbo 416-hp V-8. But the AMG-massaged G63, with its performance-optimized upgrades and a handmade V-8 boosted to 577 hp, promised to deliver an entirely new form of G force". Click here to learn more! Mercedes-AMG A 35

The new A 35 sedan will be Mercedes-AMG's lowest priced AMG model! It has a turbocharged inline-four with 302 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, a seven-speed dual clutch automatic transmission, and a variable all-wheel-drive system. There are five driving modes; of them, the Sport+ and Slippery modes are new to the AMG. Sport+, as the name implies, increases responsiveness for maximum performance, while Slippery is for enhanced stability, implementing a flat torque curve, smoother responses, and reduced power. The A 35 has a different suspension setup than the regular A-class with optional adjustable dampers, a specially tuned variable-ratio steering rack, and larger vented disc brakes (four-piston calipers with 13.8-inch discs in front, single-piston calipers with 13.0-inch discs in back). It also gets the AMG Dynamics system that debuted on the updated C63, which is enhanced stability control and brake-based torque-vectoring system that works in conjunction with the driving modes. AMG CEO Tobias Moers says the A 35 will appeal to new kinds of customers and serve as "an entry point into the world of AMG." Pricing hasn't been announced, The A 35 sedan will be quickly followed by a CLA 35—yes, there will be nearly identical AMG versions of the A-class and the CLA —as well as a GLA 35 once the next-gen version of the standard GLA debuts. The existence of these new lower-tier four-cylinder compact AMGs leaves room for the upcoming A 45, CLA 45, and GLA 45 to get even crazier: The range-topping A 45 S will get over 415 horsepower from a 2.0-liter turbo four and an advanced all-wheel-drive system with a rear-drive Drift mode. The U.S.-bound A 35 sedan has now been revealed ahead of its in-person debut at the New York auto show this April, and as we expected, it's basically identical to its hatchback sibling. April is National Car Care Month

Why April? In April, as winter comes to an end, it is time to get your car ready for spring driving and summer road trips! National Car Care Month reminds you to take care of any issues that may have occurred or been ignored during winter. Spring driving brings its own hazard such as slick, wet roads. It is important to make sure your tires, brakes and windshield wiper are ready for the rain. National Car Care Month in April is the time of year to give your car some extra attention. Basic maintenance can go a long way toward improving the safety and dependability of your vehicle, plus it helps avoid costly repairs down the road. “Neglected vehicle care almost always means much higher costs down the line in the form of more extensive repairs or lost resale value,” said Rich White, executive director, Car Care Council. “Chances are if you own a car, it needs some work. National Car Care Month in April is the perfect time to focus on your vehicle’s maintenance needs.” Mercedes-Benz of Smithtown Service Department is here for all your Spring service needs! Call us at (877) 862-7343. The Car Care Council recommends 10 basic maintenance procedures to keep your car operating at its best: Check the oil, filters, and fluids. Oil should be checked at every fill-up and changed per the owner’s manual recommended intervals. Brake, transmission, power steering, coolant and windshield washer fluids should also be checked regularly. Your car’s filters, including those for the transmission, fuel system and interior ventilation, need regular inspection and replacement. Inspect hoses at each oil change and have them replaced when leaking, brittle, cracked, rusted, swollen or restricted. Check V-belts and serpentine belts for looseness and condition, and have them replaced when cracked, frayed, glazed or showing signs of excessive wear. Check the engine brake system every year and have the brake linings, rotors and drums inspected at each oil change. Check that the battery connection is clean, tight and corrosion-free. The battery should be securely mounted. If it is three years old or more, the battery should be tested and replaced if necessary. Inspect the exhaust system for leaks, damage and broken supports or hangers if there is an unusual noise. Exhaust leaks can be dangerous and must be corrected without delay. Schedule a tune-up that will help the engine deliver the best balance of power and fuel economy and produce the lowest level of emissions. Check the car’s heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) system as proper heating and cooling performance is critical for interior comfort and for safety reasons, such as defrosting. Inspect the steering and suspension system annually, including shock absorbers and struts, and chassis parts, such as ball joints, tie rod ends and other related components. Check the pressure of all tires, including the spare, at least once a month. Check the tread for uneven or irregular wear and cuts and bruises along the sidewalls. Have your car’s alignment checked at least annually to reduce tire wear and improve fuel economy and handling. Test exterior and interior lights and have bulbs that are not working checked immediately. Replace windshield wiper blades every six months or when cracked, cut, torn, streaking or chattering for optimum wiping performance and safety.
