Alternatives for Children (AFC) is a nonprofit organization that provides early intervention, preschool special education, and child care services to children with disabilities and their typically developing peers on Long Island. Founded in 1988, AFC offers both integrated and self-contained preschool classes. AFC’s mission is to provide high-quality, comprehensive, and individualized services that support the development and learning of children with disabilities and their families. The Smithtown Performing Arts Center is a non-profit performing arts theater located in Smithtown, New York. Any and all money raised will help them fulfill Everyday Wishes which include medical supplies, therapeutic equipment, assistive technology, home modifications, respite, counseling, advocacy, service coordination, crisis assistance, alternative medicine, and more. We take great pride in playing a role in the advancement and prosperity of our community.
Paws of War is a non-profit organization founded in 2011 by Deb Haffenreffer and Clay Hutson. They help veterans and first responders with disabilities by providing them with service dogs and training. Paws of War also provides veterinary care, mobility assistance, and emotional support to animals rescued from war zones. Their mission is to “provide veterans and first responders with the resources they need to live independent and fulfilling lives, and to rescue and rehabilitate animals in need.”. The St. James Calderone Theatre is a historic theater located in St. James, New York. It was built in 1925 by the Calderone family, who owned a chain of movie theaters. They have hosted a variety of performances over the years, including vaudeville shows, movies, and concerts. In the 1960s, the theater was used as a television studio for the local CBS affiliate. The Calderone Theatre fell into disrepair in the 1980s, but it was saved from demolition by a group of local residents who formed the Celebrate St. James organization. The theater was renovated in 1999 and is now used for a variety of events, including concerts, plays, and art exhibits. The Port Jefferson Prom is a rite of passage for many high school students in the Three Village School District. It is a night to celebrate with friends, dance the night away, and create memories that will last a lifetime. The prom is typically held at the Ward Melville High School on Long Island, New York. The school is decorated with flowers, balloons, and streamers, and the dance floor is filled with music and laughter. Drive For Drew is a tournament held each year for Drew, who suffers from H-ABC®. H-ABC® is Hypomyelination with atrophy of the basal ganglia and cerebellum, also called H-ABC®, is a rare genetic disorder that progressively damages the nervous system. It is a privilege for us to actively participate in enhancing the lives of those in our community.
The Long Island Auto Body Repairmen’s Association (LIABRA) is a trade association for collision repair professionals in New York State. LIABRA serves one of the nation’s busiest motoring regions, with over 500 independent member shops repairing a quarter of a million automobiles annually. LIABRA member shops are located from the Queens border along both the north and south shores of Nassau and Suffolk Counties out to Montauk. We deeply appreciate the chance to bring about positive change in the lives of individuals we serve.
Temple Sinai of Massapequa is a Reform synagogue located in East Massapequa, New York. It was founded in 1954 by a group of families who wanted to create a more inclusive and progressive Jewish community. The building is a modern structure with a large sanctuary, a social hall, and a variety of classrooms. They offers a variety of religious and cultural programming, including Shabbat services, adult education classes, and youth programs. The synagogue is also home to a number of social action organizations, which work to promote social justice. We consider it a true honor to be able to make a positive impact on the lives of those around us.
The Long Island Professional Horsemen’s Association (LIPHA) is a non-profit organization that serves the needs of professional horsemen and exhibitors on Long Island. The LIPHA was founded in 1947 and is one of sixteen nationwide chapters that make up the National PHA. The LIPHA‘s mission is to promote the sport of horses on Long Island by providing educational opportunities, scholarships, and support to its members. The LIPHA also strives to raise the quality of horse shows on Long Island by offering point classes in 21 divisions in which members can compete for year-end awards.
