The All-New 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLB–The SUV Designed For Every Trip

Automobile Magazine shared with us everything we need to know about the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLB First Drive Review: The Not-So-Baby Benz Delights. The All-New Mercedes-Benz GLB SUV is a compact SUV with G-class-inspired styling that seats up to 7. Equipped with a turbocharged 2.0L Inline 4 Engine that produces 221 horsepower and 258-pound feet of torque. The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLB hits 0 to 60 mph in a Mercedes-Benz tested 6.9 seconds and has a top speed of 130 mph.

Squeezed right between the GLA and the GLC, the GLB portrays itself as a more scaled-down GLS than a sportier, slightly smaller take on a compact GLC.

Standard dual 7-inch or available 10.25-in high-resolution screens present reconfigurable instruments and multimedia visuals. The central display is designed as a touchscreen to make accessing features and settings as easy as possible.

Standard features include 18 inch wheels, LED headlamps, Dual-Zone Climate Control, Keyless Start, Power Liftgate, Dynamic Select driving modes, Eight-way powered front seats with position memory, Multifunction leather steering wheel, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

For an extra $2,000, customers can add 4MATIC® All-Wheel Drive, which can now send up to 50% of engine torque to its rear wheels.

However, the GLB falls short with its available seven seats. Mercedes-Benz designed the GLB with a pop-up third-row bench for when it is needed. The third row seats fall short with room for passengers to comfortably sit. The GLB is said to actually have 10% more cargo space than the pricier GLC. Its 62 cubic feet of seats-folded down cargo space easily tops its class, with about 40% more space than you’ll find in the Mercedes-Benz’ smaller GLA.

The spacious and finely designed interior of the GLB is one of its high points. A rounded lower dash with MBUX screens located in a dashboard crevice. For an additional $310 you can get 64-color ambient lighting to match whatever mood you are feeling.

For an additional $300, Mercedes-Benz Interior Assistant feature can help you without you even having to ask. For example, when reaching for something in the console area in the dark, the interior assistant feature will illuminate the area for you.

The Augmented Reality for Navigation feature automatically beams a real-time camera view of upcoming turns or exists onto the windshield, and overlays it with directional arrows or street names.

When taken for a test-drive, drivers feel the GLB was designed to tamp down aggressiveness, while still showing a beautiful feel for the road. The GLB is designed to fit the desires and lifestyles of aspiring families. The GLB is expected to reach showrooms just in time for the holidays.
