The Vision Mercedes Simplex is a blast from the past
Late last week at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show, Mercedes-Benz presented the Vision Mercedes Simplex. The new design is seen as a reimagination of the original Mercedes, the “35 PS” which was designed in 1901. The 35 PS is known to be one of the first modern cars– being much more advanced than other automobiles of that time.
According to The Verge, the two designs from different time periods share similar qualities. Both designs have a front half that is white and back half is black. Both have a large white engine and radiator module upfront as well as a blue open two-seat cockpit at the rear. Although designed fairly true to the 1901 35 PS original design, the new Vision Mercedes Simplex ultimately symbolizes the transition to a new era of design and technology. The radiator is rimmed in rose gold and the grille has an animated display that shows information on the vehicles status.
