2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE vs. 2021 Land Rover Range Rover Sport

The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE is a balance of the best technologies with its upscale cabin setup. This car carries a potent engine lineup too.

The Land Rover Range Rover Sport, 2021 model, offers balanced handling and strong engine performance. It is also getting a share of praises for its posh interior.

Design & Style

The Mercedes-Benz GLE is noted for offering spacious seats to accommodate five people basically. This can be expanded further to seat seven passengers, via the provision of a third row. This addition should not be a problem in terms of comfort at all. Also notable in its design aspect is the inclusion of a solid set of hardware in its excellently crafted cabin.

The 2021 Range Rover Sport basically seats five people, but you can upgrade to a version with third row seats, if you want to increase the seating capacity to seven. If you do, be ready to have your kids seat at the last row, as there is not enough room for adults in there. Using high-end materials in the cabin, you will appreciate the presence of soft-touch plastic pieces and aluminum for its interior design.

Technology & Safety

The GLE now uses the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) infotainment interface. This works with its 12.3-inch touch screen. Aside from the standard rearview camera, it comes fitted with active brake assist blind spot monitoring, active brake assist, and driver attention monitoring. It also has a standard active parking assist which has parking sensors used to automatically steer the SUV when moving through parallel parking spaces.

The 2021 Land Rover Range Rover Sport has standard technologies like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Wi-Fi hot spot, HD radio, satellite radio, and eight speakers. It has a pair of 10-inch touch screen displays as well. Note that while the setup looks sleek, functions can be complicated. It takes too long for displays to respond to inputs as well. Safety wise, it has forward collision warning, front and rear parking sensors, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, and rearview camera.

Performance

The GLE has a base trim that is turbocharged by a four-cylinder engine to generate up to 255 horsepower. It has a six-cylinder engine variation that can reach up to 362 horsepower. The twin-turbo V8, on the other hand, packs up to 483 horsepower. The Range Rover Sport, on the other hand, breathes 355 horsepower for its turbocharged six-cylinder engine.

The Bottom Line

While the Range Rover Sport has some great features, it cannot be denied that the GLE offers more. It is handsome from the inside to the outside, with a powerful and fuel-efficient engine lineup. It will surely give your money’s worth.
