How To Adjust Mercedes-Benz Steering Wheel

Steering Wheel Adjustment (Manually)

• Release the steering wheel lever underneath the steering column. (Push it down)
• You have now unlocked the steering column.
• To the desired position, adjust the wheel.
• Once you feel the steering wheel is where you’d like it to be, push the lever back up.
• You have now locked your steering column. Check to make sure that it feels good and is locked in place.

Steering Wheel Adjustments (Electronically)

• There is a lever to the left of your steering wheel with a button on the end. You must first turn on the steering wheel adjustment. In the ignition lock, your smart key should be in position two. The lever just referred to now needs to be switched on. Give it a turn.
• You can move the control on the end up, down, forward, and backwards.
• This will shift the steering wheel to the desired position. Turn it off when you’re done.

Resetting the Angle Sensor

The SAS (steering angle sensor) measures the rate of turn and the steering wheel position angle. It is a component that is part of the vehicle’s ESP® (electronic stability program). If you need to reset it, technically, it needs to be recalibrated. This is something you may want to have a mechanic take care of at your Mercedes-Benz service center.

Note: After a wheel alignment, this will likely be a necessary step.
