2022 Mercedes-Benz GLE

2022 Mercedes-Benz GLE

VS
2022 Porsche Cayenne

2022 Porsche Cayenne

2022 Mercedes-Benz GLE vs. 2022 Porsche Cayenne

The luxury SUV market is one of the fastest-growing segments in the car industry. With new models and fresh redesigns coming out every year, it’s hard to keep up with all the latest offerings. But we’re here to help! In this article, we’ll compare two popular SUVs that are most likely on your shortlist: The 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLE and vs. 2022 Porsche Cayenne.

Design & Style

  • Exterior Design

The 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLE features a more aggressive design than the 2022 Porsche Cayenne. The front end is sleek and stylish, with headlights that follow the lines of the body and massive air intakes that give it a sporty look. The sides are clean and simple, but there are still noticeable lines in the doors and running boards to break up the monotony of its shape. The rear end also has an interesting form, with two rectangular taillights extending from either side of a vertical center section, which houses four circular lights (two for each side). Both vehicles also feature blacked-out grilles up front and dual exhaust pipes at the back.

  • Interior Design

The 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLE’s interior design is among the most attractive in its class. The dashboard is well-designed, with a clean layout and lots of available storage space. The infotainment system has been redesigned, making it easier to use.

The 2022 Porsche Cayenne’s interior design is also beautiful, with intuitive controls and an easy-to-use infotainment system that integrates nicely into the dashboard. However, some buyers may find that it doesn’t have enough storage space for their needs.

Technology & Safety

The 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLE is a technological marvel that helps drivers stay safe. With a standard Active Brake Assist system, you can tap the brakes, and this feature will automatically engage your vehicle’s brakes to stop it if you detect an imminent collision. This system also works with Adaptive Brake Assist Plus and Steering Assist Plus, which help reduce stopping distances by applying more brake force when needed to keep you from hitting the car in front of you or swerving off the road—all while keeping both hands on the steering wheel. The 2022 Porsche Cayenne has no similar features. Still, it has adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist, which helps maintain a safe distance between vehicles and prevent drifting into neighboring streets, and automatic high beams that adjust the brightness based on ambient light conditions.

Performance

When talking about the engine performance specs on these two SUVs, it’s important to remember that both of them are built for comfort, not speed. That said, both have engines that can get up and go when needed.

The 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLE will have an optional V6 engine with 280 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque—not bad! If you opt for the AMG® S version (the top trim), your SUV will also come with a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine that produces 550 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque—a little more than double the standard spec! The Cayenne’s options range from a 3.0L turbocharged V6 engine or a 4.2L twin-turbo V8 engine; both produce 440 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque, respectively.

The Bottom Line

The Mercedes-Benz GLE is a better overall car than the Porsche Cayenne. It’s more comfortable, more efficient, and handles better on winding roads.
